Bekker sets up the winner in overtime thriller over Virginia Tech
NEWTON, Mass - Sigma grad Kyle Bekker's second assist of the night set up the overtime winner in a thrilling 4-3 win over Virginia Tech on Friday night at Boston College's Newton Campus Field.
In the third-minute of overtime, Bekker sent a cross into the penalty area that teammate Charlie Rugg headed into the net to secure the win. The win came in front of 900 screaming Boston College fans.
Boston College now sits at 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Their only loss of the season came against ACC-rival and top-ranked Maryland. It doesn't get any easier as the Eagles host No.2-ranked Connecticut Huskies on Tuesday.
Sigma alumni Holdridge and Payne face off in Los Angeles
Nolan Holdridge and the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors rode into Los Angeles for a showdown with Jordan Payne and Cal State Los Angeles on Friday. It was a thrilling contest that was decided in overtime with the hometown Golden Eagles pulling out a 2-1 win in the 98th minute.
Holdridge assisted on the Warriors only goal, while Payne recorded three shots on goal for CSLA.
On Sunday, Holdridge set up the game's only goal in 23rd minute on a cross converted by Cal State Stanislaus' Manny Avila as Warriors came out on top over No. 23 Cal State Dominguez Hills, 1-0.
On Sunday, CSLA battled Chico State to a 2-2 draw. Payne almost won the game, hitting the post with 1:28 remaining. The Sigma alum had a team-high four shots on goal.

MACON, Ga. - Sigma's Greg Ranjitsingh made five of his six saves in the second half as Mercer Bears recorded a 2-0 win over Georgia Southern on Sunday. Ranjitsingh recorded his second shutout of the season. Georgia Southern entered the game scoring at a 2.83 goals per game clip which was good for No.7 in all of U.S. College soccer. On Friday, Ranjitsingh picked up his second collegiate win of his career with a 3-1 win over VMI.
BURNABY, B.C. - Sigma's Lucas Ferritto scored the second of three SFU goals in the first half as the Clan men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win over Western Washington University Vikings in their first NCAA Div. II Great Northwest Athletic Conference game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Terry Fox Field. SFU improves to 5-0 (1-0 GNAC) on the season.
SPOKANE, Wash. - Sigma's Emery Welshman had three shots on goal as Oregon State's stingy defense earned the team its second shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. With the win, the Beavers improved their record to 2-3-1.
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Adelphi's men's soccer team defeated Fordham University 3-1 Sunday for the team's first win of the season. Sigma's Jordan Hibbert put two headers on net in the contest, but was unable to score. Hibbert started both weekend games, including Friday's 1-0 loss to New Hampshire.
TULSA, Okla. - Jarrett Hamilton and the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles lost a thrilling overtime match to San Diego State, 2-1. The Golden Eagles (1-4-0) outshot San Diego State 13-5 in the second half and overtime, but it wasn't enough to get passed San Diego State (4-1-1).
CONWAY, S.C. - Kristian Lee-Him started and played 41 minutes in a 3-0 win over Hartwick College that secured Appalachian State the title at the Coastal Carolina tournament in Conway, S.C. Earlier, ASU upset tournament host Coastal Carolina 1-0. Lee-Him started that game and played 51 minutes.
HERKIMER, N.Y. Jordan Stoddart record as assist as Herkimer defeated Onondaga CC Lazers 4-1 on Thursday. On Friday, the team faced SUNY Adirondack and won 3-0.
WASHINGTON - George Washington University scored the game-winner with 1:26 remaining, handing the Bryant University men's soccer team a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Mount Vernon Field. Lucas Guerriero started in the midfield for the Bulldogs and played 84 minutes.
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Ryan Lyn came off the bench in the second half in the University of Dayton men's soccer team 2-1 in double overtime to the Green Bay Phoenix (3-2-1) in the final game of the Green Bay Soccer Classic on Sunday.
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac men's soccer team recorded its first win of the season with a 4-3 decision over Hartford Wednesday. Sigma's Remere Warner played all 90 minutes for the Bobcats.
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to University of Richmond on Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Sigma's Manny Morgado started for the Panthers (2-5-1).
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sigma's Shane Beharry set up the winning goal in overtime as the Robert Morris Colonials defeated Cleveland State 2-1 Sunday. Sophomore Miro Cabrilo (Hamilton, Ontario/Glendale Secondary) scored six minutes into overtime to lift the Colonials to 3-2-1 on the season.
HAMILTON - Nathanial Morris and the McMaster Marauders recorded big wins over the weekend, dumping Laurier 4-0 at home on Saturday, and thrashing Waterloo 5-0 on the road.
KINGSTON - Michael Campea and the Queens Gaels split weekend matches, defeating Royal Military College 1-0 on Friday, but dropping a 1-0 decision to Trent Sunday.
