SIGMA FC announces the addition of a U14 (1998) boys team for the 2012 outdoor season. The new team rounds out the number of teams in the elite academy's program to eight.

The team will begin training immediately with league play scheduled to begin in the beginning of April in SAAC's U15 Showcase division. SIGMA FC is currently evaluating players for the final roster.

"We are very excited to be adding this new age group to SIGMA FC. It was always an initiative of ours to introduce the 1998 age group as an academy team but we always need to plan in a proper and timely fashion, said SIGMA Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis. "With that said, we are ready to go ahead with the team for the 2012 season. It has been an easy transition so far with players from our current SIGMA ETC training pool along with players who have been on our radar for some while now."

While Smyrniotis is pleased with the group of players assembled for the U14 team, evaluation sessions will be taking place for players interested in joining the team over the following weeks.

SIGMA FC is coming off a strong year in 2011 in which seven players from its program were selected for national team duty with Canada or other countries. Some of those players included Chris Nanco with the Canadian U17 World Cup team, Manjrekar James with the Canadian U20 pool and Kyle Bekker with the Canadian U23 squad at the recent CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament.
