With September just around the corner it is time for the 3rd Annual SIGMA ETC Talent Days. The event returns to provide prospective young talented soccer players an opportunity to be identified for the ETC (Elite Training Center Program) - SIGMA's Development Program throughout the fall and winter months. Talent Days are widely used throughout Europe by clubs to introduce players to the clubs, and have proven to be quite an experience for all attending.

The three weekend dates in September will provide participants an opportunity to become familiar with the philosophy and structure of the SIGMA FC Academy. On the field the players will receive instruction from the staff coaches of SIGMA FC who have been responsible for developing some of the top talent in Southern Ontario over the past 5 years. With over 20 players currently playing in the NCAA and CIS, 5 players representing various national programs 10 European club trials it is evident that the development program at SIGMA has been successful over its short history in developing talent.

The Talent Days will provide participants a brief overview of the normal curriculum to be encountered within the ETC Program. SIGMA General Director Constantine Smyrniotis believes this to be a positive initiative for all, "In the end the players will receive a few training sessions, in a fun yet educational environment by our experienced staff. On the flipside our technical team will have a good opportunity to identify new talent for our fall/winter long training programs. In the end it is important to understand that this is not a tryout, but a means of introducing people to our organization and to our style of development which up until now has been very successful in supporting players to the next level of the game. This is an event that has become very popular over the years and very important to the growth of SIGMA. Last year's Talent Days attracted many quality participants who went on to become part of the ETC Program, and I am confident of the same this year. This is what makes the Talent Days so special. Many times we will discover a boy we have not seen before who fits into the SIGMA philosophy and that is great for both the young boy and SIGMA".

According to SIGMA Technical Director, Bobby Smyrniotis, as a member of SIGMA the players are not only involved in a successful environment of development they are also exposed to a diverse group of technical people and international experiences both at home and abroad. “The environment is simple but most importantly it is structured for the player. The technical curriculum looks beyond the technical aspects of the game and teaches players discipline, self responsibility, leadership and respect. On the other side the players are in an environment where they want to grow and develop and have all the necessary stimuli to do so.

At SIGMA, 2011 has been a great year for all the divisions of development. SIGMA FC, home to 6 teams from U13 to Men's is having a successful third season as a full time program with teams and players flourishing on and off the pitch, including competition within the SAAC and OSA leagues. Just this past July, SIGMA also hosted the 7th annual International ID Camps for both its FC and ETC players along with new hopeful participants. This year’s event was one of the most diverse ever in terms of the technical team present; further establishing this event as one of the top of its kind in North America. Guest coaches from Club Brugge, Hertha Berlin, Celtic FC, SL Benfica, Sparta Rotterdam, Real Mallorca and NCAA Division 1 College ranks joined the Sigma FC team to ensure a quality technical program and experience for participants. Looking forward, with FC teams continuing with their training and competition to year’s end, college recruiting events both at home and in the US, and the start of the 2011-12 ETC Program quickly approaching, there is still much to do in 2011 for Sigma.
