The goal was to win a trophy, but that's only part of the story.

The Sigma A1 team entered the U21 League Cup competition to mark an end to their successful run of time together, a period that saw the team grow together from humble beginnings to reach great heights.

The team boasts a roster that includes 11 players that are currently in their first year playing college soccer in the United States or Canada and one player heading overseas.

"Our goal with this graduating group of players was as a group to win a competition. Not for the sake of the trophy but in a way to go out with a bang as a group," said Smyrniotis.

"The team really took this competition seriously and our performance in the matches was some of the best soccer the boys have played together as a group," he added.

The team dominated the U21 League Cup competition winning all six games, and outscoring the opposition 32-1 along the way.

Ryan Lyn, currently in his freshman year at University of Dayton, led the team in scoring with 10 goals. Jonathan Grant was next with six, while Jordan Stoddart, currently at Herkimer Community College in New York, scored four goals.

Goaltender Greg Ranjitsingh posted 5 shutouts in six games.
