Name: Mark Anthony Gonzalez

Mark Anthony is a strong technically gifted attacking midfielder who has an inept ability at running at opponents with skill and precision in possession of the ball. His speed, strength, balance and creativity are all integral parts to his game which make him a force on the field. He has an ability to be dangerous from all parts of the field and shows it game in game out.

In Coach Smyrniotis' words:
"At SIGMA we have done a great job over the years of uncovering hidden gems within Ontario soccer. I would say Mark Anthony was one of these players. A player with a very good technical capacity and understanding of the game, Mark Anthony has all the ability to be a top player. I think in his two seasons at SIGMA Mark Anthony has understood that there are more areas to his game than he is aware of and this has propelled him to a higher level of play. He is a special player in the attack who can create and score from a variety of positions. His tactical awareness and ability to dominate a game will make him a great asset for Coach Mike Jacobs and the Purple Aces of the University of Evansville. He is going to play at a good program for a coach close to the SIGMA family and I am definitely looking forward to his progress playing in the Missouri Valley Conference, one of the country's toughest soccer conferences."

In his own words:
"Before I started with SIGMA, I was contemplating quitting soccer due to negative experiences in the game. I had lost all my self confidence as a soccer player, my skill level went down and most importantly I believed I was losing my passion for soccer. My last hope was SIGMA.

"Once I made the SIGMA team, I began to believe that I could regain my skill level again, and I started to gain my self confidence because the coaches at SIGMA always gave me positive feedback, but at the same time there was a structured discipline, I noticed I started getting my skill level back and developed even more with the excellent training.

"At SIGMA, you have several coaches that train you so you are always getting the best coaching and each coach brings their best knowledge on the field. The emphasis is developing players to the best of their abilities and not on only winning, like other clubs do. I have met so many great players and friends who share the same love of the game here. Playing in the men's league has made me feel ready to play college soccer. Sigma has proven to me that there are no limitations in growing as a player on the pitch.

"I am excited to play college soccer and am looking forward to start my journey with Evansville and playing for Coach Mike Jacobs. I met Coach Jacobs at SIGMA's International ID camp. He worked with my team for a week, I like his style of coaching and he believes that I would be an asset to his team. He says with hard work and determination I can exceed my expectations as a player. He is the type of coach that I would not want to disappoint. He is also a gentleman.

I believe I will develop a lot more with him and I will enjoy being part of the Purple Aces at Evansville. I've been told that in Evansville Ind., soccer is very big sport. Purple Aces players are like celebrities, and the fan base is incredible. I had the pleasure of meeting the team and they are a bunch of great guys that made me feel so welcome at my official visit. I look forward to starting a new life and my next soccer journey at Evansville. I have to thank SIGMA for this great opportunity that was given to me. SIGMA works hard to showcase and bring scouts from all over and strive to give their players the best opportunities possible."

In Coach Jacobs' words:
"Mark Anthony is a dynamic attacking player that can create and finish scoring chances. He will add creativity to our midfield, and enhance our opportunity to create more offence."
