SIGMA FC and Sigma Sports Solutions are pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the international coaching staff to be present at this summer's SIGMA FC International ID Camps. Coaches Dennis Haar and Nick van Aart will be making their first trip to North America representing one of the Netherlands top clubs AZ Alkmaar.
In the past 5 years AZ Alkmaar has emerged as one of the strongest clubs in the Netherlands both in the professional and youth academy setup. In 2009, AZ Alkmaar was crowned champions of the Dutch Eredivise under the guidance of the legendary coach Louis van Gaal. During the past ten years the club has also focused considerably on it's youth department making it one of the top in the Netherlands alongside AFC Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV. Not too long ago player's would only choose for Ajax in the region of Holland. But nowadays the choice is split as AZ has increased their stature in coaching, facilities, and organization. The results speak for themselves, with a number of youth players graduating to the first team and being instrumental in the clubs first Eredivise title in more than 25 years in 2009.
Dennis Haar comes to Canada for the first time this summer to educate and evaluate the talent at the SIGMA International ID Camp. A UEFA "A" licensed coach, Dennis Haar has been a member of the AZ youth staff since 2006, and most recently as the A1 (U19) head coach. Dennis will be responsible for working with the oldest ages at the camp providing his experience from a tactical aspect of the game. According to SIGMA Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis the addition of Dennis Haar brings something new to the camp in it's 6th year, "It is great to have Dennis join us for the 2010 event. The participants will have the opportunity to work with a coach who has been successful in pushing players to the pro ranks. It is also special that for the first time we will be having a coach from the Netherlands who does not represent Ajax. This will provide our participants a different spin on the Dutch model of development and one that has become as successful over the past years as that of our good friends at Ajax".
The second coach from AZ to be travelling alongside Dennis Haar to the camp is Nick van Aart. Nick will also be making his first trip to Canada . A UEFA "A" licensed coach, Nick has been a member of the AZ staff for the past 10 years starting as the GK trainer and since 2007 the head coach of the B1 (U17) squad at the club. At the playing level van Aart learned the game playing at the AJAX youth academy and later on moving to AZ Alkmaar where he spent his years as a member of the first team. SIGMA Managing director, Constantine Smyrniotis who is instrumental in putting the international coaching staff together for the camp believes the addition of the AZ coaches provides a great avenue of exposure and education to the camp participants, "We are very happy at SIGMA to have two very good coaches in Nick and Dennis joining us for our camp this year. It's a clear testament to the name SIGMA has built over the years in the Netherlands. Our SIGMA FC teams have competed at t'Lood (official name of the AZ Youth Facility) on a number of occasions in the past 4 years. The players have also had the luxury to view the AZ first team in training and in matches, meet players and coaches, so it is now only normal to have 2 of their top youth coaches in Toronto to work with and assess players who are driven to succeed in the sport".
The SIGMA FC International ID Camp is the top soccer development event of its kind in Canada. With the 6th yearly edition of the event in 2010, select youth players have had the luxury over the years to be provided the top in development training under the guidance of international leaders in the game. Youth coaches and Technical Directors from such clubs as AFC AJAX, AZ Alkmaar, Club Brugge, Real Mallorca, Tottenham, Arsenal have made the trip and alongside NCAA Division I coaches have shared their knowledge and unique insight and experiences to participants while meeting their own recruiting needs.
The SIGMA International ID Training camps begin on June 28 through to July 2 for all players U13-U18 while the younger ages begin training July 5th through to July 9th at the Hershey Center Soccer Complex in Mississauga. For detailed info on the camp visit www.sigma-sports.net
