Bobby Smyrniotis on Mahabir:
Tim has been here since the beginning in 2006. A member of our first team of players born in 1995 that travelled to Mallorca Spain. He is an excellent young man who has grown and matured within SIGMA to a fine young man and a very good footballer. Technically gifted, strong, excellent in the air and calm under pressure he has emerged as a valuable player to any coach. His ability to connect and keep possession, move up the field from his outside back role are fantastic attributes to his game and an asset to any team. At Roanoke he will be joining a strong soccer rich program under the guidance of Ryan Pflugrad and will be joining two of his former teammates at SIGMA in Aidan Nagy and Orestis Ilias. Roanoke is a great soccer environment and Tim will get the most out of the game during his time at the school, while Roanoke will be getting another piece to their already strong team.
All the best Tim! All of us at SIGMA are happy to see you make this step and look forward to following your success.
In His Own Words:
"I've decided to attend Roanoke College starting the fall of 2014. The main factors that influenced my choice were to play soccer at a competitive level, and the overall good look that the team and facilities gave to me. At Roanoke, the class sizes are much smaller and personal and I will be studying exercise science during my time there. I will be joining former Sigma teammates Orestis Ilias and Aidan Nagy who only had positive things to say about Roanoke.
My first experience with Sigma dates back to 2006 as I was one of the original members. Sigma has been instrumental in my development over the past 8 years. They have preached discipline and technique above all else and are the reason I am the player I am today. The coaches gave me the skills, confidence and connections to continue developing my game and working hard. Coach Bobby has been head coach since 2006 and under him I have grown substantially as a player. When I was looking for a school to play at, he helped me with the process and I am very grateful for this. Soccer is a very important part of my life and I am excited to be able to continue it for at least another 3 years at Roanoke College."
In Coach Ryan Pflugrad's words:
"We are very excited to have a student and player as accomplished as Tim joining us at Roanoke College. He is a very technical player who understands the game well and has competed at a high level with the Sigma program. I look for Tim to be another in the now long growing line of successful players from Sigma at the USA collegiate level."
