While the month of May marks the start of the busy outdoor soccer season, of which 7 academy teams and two senior SIGMA FC squads compete in SAAC, OSL and League 1 Ontario, it also marks a time when SIGMA FC coaches turn their attention to the next generation of players that will embark on their own soccer journey.

It all starts with the 7th edition of the popular "SIGMA FC Talent Days" event (Saturday May 30, 2015 - Hershey Sportszone Fields, Mississauga). The event is aimed at identifying talented young soccer players for inclusion in SIGMA programs including the "SIGMA FC International ID", SIGMA FC Elite Summer camps, the ETC (Elite Training Center) Program - SIGMA's Development Program throughout the fall and winter months and an evaluation for further progress to the full academy.

SIGMA uses the Talent Day model to assess new players and introduce them and their families to the organization. Saturday May 30, will provide participants an opportunity to become familiar with the philosophy and structure of the SIGMA FC Academy. On the field the players will receive instruction from the staff coaches of SIGMA FC who have been responsible for developing some of the top talent in the province and country. With over 50 players currently playing in the NCAA and CIS, 7 players representing Senior National teams, over 20 players representing Canada in youth ages , and 7players currently playing professionally it is evident that the development program at SIGMA has been successful over its short history in developing talent.

"Talent Days are really an enjoyable event for all of us here at Sigma. We get to meet so many new people while the attending players get to receive a quality training session, in a fun yet educational environment by our experienced staff," said SIGMA General Director Constantine Smyrniotis.

According to Smyrniotis, the "Talent Days" have become a key step in identifying talent for the ETC Program. Almost every year, a player emerges from Talent Days that the SIGMA coaches have not seen but fits perfectly into our SIGMA philosophy. Finding those talents is one of the principle satisfactions of running the program.

According to SIGMA Technical Director, Bobby Smyrniotis, as members of SIGMA the players are not only involved in a successful environment of development they are also exposed to a diverse group of technical people and international experiences both at home and abroad. "The environment is simple but most importantly it is structured for the player. The technical curriculum looks beyond the technical aspects of the game and teaches players discipline, self-responsibility, leadership and respect. On the other side the players are in an environment where they want to grow and develop and have all the necessary stimuli to do so."

SIGMA is home to seven academy teams from U12 to U18 and two Senior Men's teams (SIGMA FC & SIGMA II). The SIGMA FC "first team" competes in League1 Ontario - the Ontario Soccer Association's sanctioned professional (standards) league which began play in 2014 (www.league1ontario.com/sigma) . The team provides player's developing within the academy a team at the top of the organization to aspire to develop towards. From the 2014 Inagural League 1 team five players have moved on to the professional game most notably, Cyle Larin who became the first ever Canadian to be selected 1st overall in the MLS SuperDraft.

This Coming July (29 - 3, 6 - 10, 14 - 17, 20 - 23) SIGMA FC will be hosting the for the 11th consecutive year the popular series of SIGMA FC Summer Camps at the Hershey Center in Mississauga. The camps have become a renound success for the quality of traning, coaching staff which includes all SIGMA FC team coaches and coaches from around the world who come together to provide participating players a development week of training like no other in the country. This year's camps look to continue this past success with visiting coaches from leading soccer development nations such as Belgium, Spain and a contingent of NCAA Division I coaches representing University programs in the United States.

The summer of 2015 will be a very busy one for SIGMA on the fields and we look forward to seeing many aspiring young players on the pitch for our "Talent Day" on May 30th and at one of our many Summer Camp options (www.sigma-sports.net/idCamp) The Talent Days will be for both male and female players born in 2008-1999 .
