When SIGMA FC held its first International ID Camp in 2005, the goal was simple: introduce local players to a professional training environment while identifying players that could take their game to the next level.

Heading into the 12th edition of the annual SIGMA FC camps, that simple plan has yielded significant results. Cyle Larin, Kyle Bekker and Manjrekar James are fixtures on the Canadian senior national team's World Cup qualifying campaign, while Larin and Kyle Bekker are regulars in the MLS for Orlando City FC and Montreal Impact respectively. Richmond Laryea has joined the group of MLS players from SIGMA FC after being selected 7th overall by Orlando City in the 2016 MLS Superdraft and Emery Welshman continues his professional career in MLS with Real Salt Lake. James, meanwhile, is furthering his career as one of the top young players of the Hungarian First Division

"Over the years the camps have provided players immediate exposure to all the coaches and clubs/universities they represent," said SIGMA FC Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis. "It is easy to see the success of the camp by matching the coaches attending and Canadian players receiving training periods overseas or scholarships in the United States.

"For any top level player it is an opportunity to train in front of such a vast group of coaches without having to travel large distances to do so."

Cyle Larin - Orlando City

Kyle Bekker - Montreal Impact

Emery Welshman - RSL

Manjrekar James - Vasas SC

In the second-tier USL Pro SIGMA FC has graduates Domenic Samuel (Rochester Rhinos), Giuliano Frano (Vancouver Whitecaps), Johnny Grant and Mark Anthony Gonzalez (Sporting Kansas City) and Greg Ranjitsingh (Louisville City FC) all plying their trade at the professional level.

SIGMA FC grads are achieving strong results in some of North America's top collegiate programs. Players like Kwame Awuah is starring with NCAA Powerhouse University of Connecticut, while Chris Nanco and Alex Halis are fixtures of the Syracuse and Grand Canyon University programs respectively. Our 2016 class will see two more SIGMA players move on to the University of Akron widely recognized as a top soccer program in the US

And one of the consistent threads to their success has been the SIGMA FC International ID Camps. Over the years, players have benefitted from one-on-one coaching from some of the Europe's and U.S. College soccer's best minds.

And with a new group of graduates ready to move into the collegiate ranks, the pattern of success is sure to continue.

"The 2016 Camp looks to be a fantastic one for the participants involved," said Smyrniotis. "We have many familiar faces returning to work with the participating players providing them a unique opportunity to train with such a diverse group of coaches in Mississauga.

SIGMA FC technical staff will be joined at the camp by some familiar faces. Belgium's KRC Genk and Germany's HSV Hamburg will return to work with campers. Genk's Peter Reynders, who has overseen the development of some of Belgium's brightest young stars will be back for the fourth consecutive year.

The University ID Camp will feature University of Akron's Jared Embick, University of Connecticut's Tim O'Donohue, Pittsburgh's Jeff Negalha, Grand Canyon's Brent Erwin along with other University coaches making the trip to evaluate the talent.

"The camps have been instrumental over the years for many players looking to further develop beyond youth football and we hope that will continue this summer," said Smyrniotis. "For 2016 we have a camp tailored for all players with each week providing something different and a different focus. I look forward to greeting all the new camp participants to what has become Canada's top rated training camp."
